Our Mothers

Medical school is not a convenient time to have a baby. Black January is the least convenient time during medical school to have a new baby. Black January is January of the second year. This was Black January for D. He had around ten really hard exams which means he needed to spend lots of time studying and he also had to be rested in order to do well on his exams. Kind of difficult with a new baby.

We have survived Black January thanks to our mothers. They each came to help us for a week. They cleaned our house, did dishes, bought us food, changed diapers, held the crying baby, did laundry, helped me get organized, kept me company, and best of all, helped Squeak feel like she's an important person (she has thankfully had a remarkable adjustment to becoming the big sister). We are so grateful that they helped us in our time of need, even though it wasn't easy or convenient for them.

Our latest family photo--we're still sleep-deprived, but this time Pip isn't crying! We're smiling because D is still passing all his classes--hooray that Black January is over!

SO grateful for mommies! SO grateful two could be with you and help! Newborns are HARD...especially when external factors are not agreeable. THANK YOU for the pie! YOU are SO thoughtful!!:) :) :) Hope to see you soon!

Wow, did you have a baby and make a pie in the same month? AMAZING!!! :) I'm glad you are doing well and thank goodness D is still passing his classes, that must be a huge relief. The kids look great, I'm glad for you all that Pip isn't crying!

I just enjoyed reading the last few intries of yours and I agree with you wholeheartedly! Both about feeling goodo when you get going after baby, surviving because of mothers, and honoring our Beloved Prophet Pres. Hinkley. Thanks for lifting my mood this morning!

Glad you liked the pie, Melinda. YOU are so thoughtful too!

Jules, technically, I didn't make a pie and have a baby in the same month--Pip was born in December and I made the pie in February. Bummer, now I can't REALLY be amazing. I'll try harder with the next kid!

Thanks, Cami, for your nice comment. It made my day. :>)

HEY! I've been trying to find a way to get a hold of you since the comment on my blog (guess I didn't scroll down enough to see the blogroll on Alisa's blog). Anyway, you are MARRIED WITH TWO CHILDREN! Holy cow, time flies. I'd love to get caught up when you get a chance. Where is D going to school? Are you around in the UT area? Sure think you're great!
