D, T, and little Pip
We had a New Years Eve birthday party when Pip joined our world. We are so excited to be parents of a Squeak and a Pipsqueak! I'll put more photos up later, but here are the details:
Birthday: December 31, 2007
Birth time: 6:45 a.m.
Weight: 7 lb. 9 oz.
Length: 20.5 inches
Head circumference: 14 inches (thank D for that)
Labor time: only 25 hours!!
(we are thrilled that it was less than half of my 59.5 hour labor with Squeak)
We did an exciting thing two days before Pip's EDD and switched to a different care provider. When Pip's amniotic sac ruptured on Thursday morning and I didn't go into labor, I called the midwife on call from my clinic and found out that only a doctor from the clinic would be on call the whole weekend. I had met this doctor previously and didn't feel comfortable with his ideas on birth, so I called another midwife in the area, Ellen Franklin (who attends births at the same hospital)--I had been told excellent things about Ellen from one of my HypnoBirthing students--well, I asked Ellen if she'd take me as a patient and she said yes! She is very hands-off as long as birth is proceeding normally, and she has so much confidence in a woman's body to birth naturally with no intervention. So I felt true relief, and I think Pip felt safe enough to come to us. I think the sac must've ruptured and then resealed because actual labor didn't start until Sunday morning (Pip's EDD), and the sac ruptured again as Pip was emerging. Anyway, birth was a thrilling experience, and switching to Ellen was key to Pip's fabulous birth journey. So was HypnoBirthing and having D as the best birth companion ever! We are so grateful for our experience.

OK, girl or boy? Come on, you surly know now. I read the post twice to see if I missed it but I am recovering from some jet lag. Felicitaciones! and so great Pip came for your tax year! I'll have to Skype to get more details.
Yippee! Congratulations! But, I too, am unclear on the gender... hard to tell with babies you know... and that yellow hat isn't helping! Pink or blue?! Pip is so cute!
Congratulations!!!!!!!!! And do I need to give you a pink baby towel or a blue one??? ;)
Congratulations! Very cute! Like previous poster said, I read your post twice looking for a clue on whether Pip is a little girl or a little boy! You're having fun aren't you :) ha ha. Looking forward to hearing more about Pip and seeing more pictures.
Kisses,
Jen

Britani
What a beautiful baby! I'm glad you are all doing well. How is Squeak liking her new sibling?
Good job. Jules
Ok you guys, you really need to let us in on you joy and excitement. Don't you realize that we have all been waiting in anxious anticipation for your little one to join your family too??? :) We want to know...boy or girl...name yet???
I'm going to say that "she" is a beautiful baby girl. If "she" is a boy then you can't blame me for calling him a girl since you haven't let us in on your secret. :) We love you all, Julie
Congrats, guys! It all sounds exciting! Perfect timing, too. Just before the new year. Just like everyone else, I am curious on the name and gender :)
I am so happy for all of you! YEAH! Can't wait to hear the verdict on gender... I just want to kiss those chubby cheeks!
TL my love! The fetus arrived...and yet you still look sleep deprived! Congratulations on yet another "breast feeding" embarkment. I can tell you are really loving wearing those pads!
So Jen and I had an awesome time in New Zealand. We so wished you were there with us but instead you were in hospital pushing a watermelon out your wahoo! I'm thinking our bungy jumping, mountain biking, sea kayaking, water cruising adventures might just top that one!
Anyways, I miss you! I'm going to start blogging and will put a bunch of pictures from our trip on it. Love you!!!!!!!! AL
