We started the day with a birthday run...
followed by a birthday toss on the bean bag...
and a birthday swim with Mom...

and Dad...
and then a birthday shower...
and a birthday nap...
and of course a birthday dance...
and then concluded it all with a birthday packing party.We moved the week of Squeak's birthday, and I wasn't organized enough to do the cake, so we waited till we were in Utah with family. I'm a big fan of "the one-year-old gets to destroy her cake before anyone else touches it" spectacle, but I'm also kind of weird about Squeak getting too much sugar. Well, I came up with a brilliant solution--banana cake (hey, it's just sweet bread) covered with whipped cream, almost no sugar added, and topped with Squeak's favorite thing besides cheese--bananas. She dove in and consumed lots of bananas and cream, and then she let everyone know she was done by sitting on the cake. It was precious. No, she is precious!

Yeah, I know I'm a slacker. I'm such a slacker that I'm not joining your Special K challenge, ha ha. I'm glad Julia and Squeak got to play together--they had so much fun. :>)
Dang it! I just left a msg. and then accidentally erased it! So here's the short of it...It was so nice to see you this summer! Squeak's birthday party was a lot of fun and these pictures are really sweet.
Did you get the msg. I left on your answering machine the day after you called me? I'm doing somewhat better, it's a day to day thing with me. One fun thing I've puked up was a caesar salad I ate yesterday for lunch. It looked pretty cool. Fortunately I didn't have a class in my room at the time, but rest assured they've seen the display first hand on other occasions! Could you imagine watching your teacher puke her guts out right in front of you? Thank goodness I've got sinks in my room!!! (I've lost about 15lbs.)Yikes.
I haven't updated my blog since the beginning of the summer...it would be fun to do but energy consuming!

Loved the repetition of "birthday" in the blog, it really went well. Was that a weird compliment or what? I guess I am a nut for aesthetically pleasing stories and this birthday blog was!
Julissa--I keep thinking about calling you back and then it gets too late (you guys are an hour later than we are). Thank you for sharing your vomit story. Did you get a photo? I think you should start photographing the really interesting ones, and then you can do a slideshow exercise at the beginning of class, "Name that organism" and your students will think of all kinds of things, and then you can tell them it was vomit. Just think of those high schoolers--they'll love it!
So, did you find out about possibly taking vit B6 and Unisom? It worked wonders for my friend and sister-in-law, and a 15-pound weight loss is really scary. Seriously, check into it!
